SAVANAH

What ́s the reason for sitting 18 hours in a car just for being one hour on stage? It is the magical one hour in which yesterday, today and tomorrow lose their meaning. It ́s the feeling of freedom, dissolving in the music and when you are just at this point every thought gives way to true emotions. It is like a kind of meditation, which intensity increases the more people are on and in front of the stage taking part on the journey.
Conclusion: Savanah carries the listener with hypnotic heavy riffs into the sphere of magellanic clouds and makes happy. The journey began with the First joint living room jam in 2013, in which the three musicians Benny, Felix and Jakob immediately harmonised - the founding of the band happened. With great enthusiasm, the first three songs "Blue Reality", "Endless Sleep" and "Painful Illusion" were composed and led in June 2014 to Savanah's concert debut alongside the Austrian band "White Miles". Already in autumn, the band was booked not only for national gigs but also as support for international bands like Karma to Burn (USA). At the same time, the First EP "Deep Shades" and the eponymous single was recorded under its own direction, which led to the First online release in February 2015. Not only radio FM4 became attentive, but also the Arena Wien booked Savanah as the opening act of the Swedish band Hypnos. Their professional, raw and rousing paralysing stage presence made the record label "StoneFree Records" attentive to them and helped them to a record deal. Under contract, the entire EP "Deep Shades" was released on vinyl, CD as well as digitally on all conventional platforms. This not only resulted in more than 50,000 clicks on Youtube but also to outstanding reviews and sales worldwide. Deep Shades has been featured in several best-of lists, reaching 6th in the “Weekly More Fuzz”-Charts and reaching 18th in the “Doom-charts”. [„They just did a killer work in producing a Heavy piece of Stoner-Doom, and they really tried to avoid to sound too cliché, you know those crunchy riffs you heard a million times... No, they rather took a smarter approach by creating very catchy melodic riffs, and still managing to carry that heavy sound. To me, there are a lot of similarities with Elder’s tone & feeling, not a bad thing you’ll tell me!“ – Mr. Fuzz on morefuzz.net] In 2015, the guys shared the stage with genre greats like Colour Haze, Jex Thoth and Monolord and started their first European Tour in 2016. Countries such as Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia were visited and led to numerous fans outside the borders of Austria. At the same time they worked on new songs, which were performed live for the first time at the support show for Pentagram and in summer at the "Stick & Stone Fest" and the "Lake on Fire Festival". Thus, the first full-length album "The Healer" was in the starting blocks and could bring the band to a further climax after the release in 2017 with 200,000 clicks on Youtube and overwhelming reviews. [“I could *inish this review with a whole paragraph of reasons why you should buy/hear “The Healer” and none of them would do justice to the molten grooves of doom, desert and psych the band delivers on these six gloriously schizophrenic songs, so you just gonna have to hit the link below and check it out...” – Desert Psych List] The success of their album brought them to bands like John Garcia and Truckfighters. Another milestone of the year was the “European Tour 2017” through Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. Savanah came across brimming clubs. In November and December the successful year 2017 was rounded off with gigs at the "Styrian Sounds Festival" together with Mother's Cake and the “FuzzFest Vienna” with Dÿse and Monkey3. In the following year 2018 Savanah also made it into the opening act of the Americans Fu Manchu, for the first time in front of 1000 guests. After having a great year back in 2018, it was definitely time for another European Tour in 2019, heading to the north this time. Eight different countries all over Europe had been conquered at their leg with Minus Green in the package and brought Savanah to Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and France. After having full clubs directing from Oslo till Paris there was no reason for not heading to Serbia, Rumania and Hungary right afterwards. The band is still on an endless journey, accompanied by elaborate songwriting processes with the aim to continue to make happy. |
